A new video for Dope Train aired on the Australian video show Rage recently. However, Vines manager Andy Kelly revealed the track will not be released as a single. The video was coordinated by manager Andy Cassell. Andy K tells us, "It's just something we did with the band for kicks around the April shows."

We'll be getting a copy of the video for the site soon but in the meantime you can watch it on YouTube.com. Enjoy!

Shite. Why can't someone who so obviously has it not sit down and think "right, let's exercise a bit of quality control here", rather than toss off an album and a half of drivel with the flick of a wrist? Ever since album number one, this band's output has reeked of "that'll do". I know they've had their problems but so did Brian Wilson. A tragedy in the truest sense of the word.

are you going to get into specifics or just not bother? what was that you were just saying about quality control? your argument could use some.

I loved every one of them. I don't think that Vision valley was done just to release something, I thought it was brilliant..

Does every argument need a pier-reviewed thesis to accompany it? When Steven Weiberg said 'religion is an insult to human dignity' he didn't have snooty teenagers cracking wise and asking for more.

No, of course not, but a sentence to validate it would be nice though. And, who are you to make an unsubstantiated argument? Certainly not Steven Weiberg [sic]- and I think you'll find that quote formed part of a much longer speech- in fact, the very next sentence began to quantify what he was saying. So, he didn't have snotty teenagers wise cracking (one of which, I feel necessary to point out, I am not), but at least he still bothered to make a valid argument, even if he is a nobel prize winner.

Incompetent: check. Ignorant: check.

I find your reaction to my comments utterly baffling. I'm commentating on a two-bit music video you fool. Do you really think I'm going to write an essay to back-up any criticisms I have, for you? If, as is clearly the case, you require further explaination, I'll say that this is a painfully uninspiring video, supporting a dreary sub-Ash b-side of a song, set to depressingly sixth-form standard lyrics about (SHOCK!) drugs, made tragic by the fact that once, and maybe again, this band could and can do so much better.

Enough meat for you, Trog?

You talk as if you're some kind of really experienced musician who's realeased a 100 albums. If you think that The Vines can do better, then why don't you show them how it's done.

Jeez Loser

P.S: Neither are the song nor video actually meant to be inspirational. The song's more like an outlet of anger - if you being so 'experienced' didn't notice that Rolling Eyes

and PS- I'm fairly certain the video was made by hamish purely for fun as he was getting into experimenting with video production using some footage from their festivals. I think it was more about showing the footage than making a music video. Dope train wasn't released as a single and neither was the video submitted for broadcast other than on here. Always nice to see a band thinking of their fans, even if it's just a small jesture like this.

As for the lyrics, I think it's fair enough to say they were written in a fairly dark time. How about we break your soul, dose you up and see how you get on? I'd love to hear some of your material seeing as you proclaim yourself to be such an aficionado of song writing.

You're perfectly entitled to an opinion and I don't expect it to change at all. At least put what you think into some sort of perspective.

Do I? Knowing that I don't like a film and why doesn't make me a film buff, it's a sign that I'm a sentient being. I'm up for breaking-down and dosing-up; I bet my lyrics would be shit too. So I should put my opinions into perspective? Should everybody do that all the time? Are you saying that nothing means anything because at the end of the day there's always something, somewhere, bigger/worse-off/more-critical? I think what you're trying to say is that I should apply some context.

Woah!! Cool down! I'm not gonna elaborate because it's pretty obvious. There's no harm in your so-called 'critisism' of The Vines, just don't critisise them like those useless Magazine critics. Your critisism is worthy of a 'I hate The Vines page'...and so you're in the wrong place. Mr. Green

Cool down? I thought it was a pretty calm reply. No, it's not obvious, there isn't a trace of immaturity in my response, hence my enquiry. I feel quite petty even engaging you, but such is the weakness of your grasp of my point, I thought it necessary, even if just for my own sake.

Well someone's getting angry here Rolling Eyes ... You're a lot more immature than I thought, angrily replying to posts and all...Why don't you just start a new topic and pour out all your frustration. It'd help, trust me.

No it isn't. I'm sorry I talked to 'you' in my English. Your English is really class. I worship you Bow Down . You might wanna check all your posts on this page after some good sleep, then you'll realise how immature you are. Great dealing with you. I used you as a scapegoat to pass my time, succeeded in annoying you as well. Guess i'm really good at this. Your posts make me wanna- Sleeping

you write with the air of a music snob, a music snob who didn't appear to know the history or purpose of the video in the first place. Your first post is a prime example of someone who thinks that they don't have to justify themselves because their opinion is so definitive as to not have to bother. Such condescension. Such pomposity.

context or perspective- whichever you want to call it, I toyed with the word context but decided it would be a slight tautology so let it be.

I don't think Dope Train is the best song on the album, all the other songs just happen to be better. To me the album conveys much more meaning and emotion than the previous works combined- perhaps because we know the context in which they are written and the state of mind Craig was in when they were written. To me, it comes across as the most heartfelt and sincere of the 3 albums.

I am a music snob. And I just checked out your band. Deary me.

I'm ending my correspondence with both of you. I don't have to justify myself because my opinion is definitive, until I change my mind, such is the nature of an opinion. Also, I'm right.

as predictable as you are uninteresting.

'deary me'- ouch. so cutting. that's all you could say? I mean I knew it was awesome but I had no idea that any criticism received would fall flat on it's face like THAT. It makes me feel good to know that all you could come up with was 'deary me.' At least Warner disagree.

Jealousy doesn't become you.

You're not bad enough to warrant too elaborate a critique. Just depressingly bland.

Not sure how you've extrapolated from my comment that I am envious of you and your band.

I didn't say I was going anywhere. I said I wasn't going to engage a pair of simpletons in a fruitless row.

You like Muse, The Vines, play bad music in a dull band, look like a Sports Sciences student at Loughborough Polytechnic on a stag do in Blackpool, write like an angry teenager, and have nearly 1500 posts on a two-bit internet forum. Three words sum you up; Dave. Matthews. Band.

Farewell.

I like the vines, muse, the living end, the beach boys, jeff buckley, elliot smith, the cooper temple clause, the shins, the doors, biffy blah blah blah.

I play music in a band which makes me feel happy, I have fun with it and my mates at the same time. I know we're good, we know we're good and according to a plethora of others we show signs of talent, promise and success, whether you agree or not means nothing to me.

I'm a law student at Edinburgh University and I am predicted a first, I have a training contract with a major London law firm specialisiing in entertainment and media law.

I have nearly 1500 posts on a forum for a band I have stuck by and supported since day one and will continue to do so long after you have gotten bored and left.

I have noted that you love to make assumptions based on who knows what (possibly the deluded fantasy you construct about others to make yourself feel better about who you are, giving you the feeling of superiority over others)... it makes everything you write seem so haphazard and slapdash despite your attempts to hide it in glossy vocabulary. It's all very well having the skins, but if you haven't got the bones to support it you might as well not show up. Your last post being a perfect example.

I totally agree
